The Umeå SIMSAM Lab was established to perform high quality, interdisciplinary microdata research on childhood and its relationship with lifelong health and welfare, focusing on areas of societal importance
“Microdata research on childhood for lifelong health and welfare” is a research program financed by the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet), through the Swedish Initiative for research on Microdata in the Social And Medical sciences (SIMSAM). The SIMSAM initiative, which aims to strengthen interdisciplinary register-based research in Sweden, consists of a network of six research nodes and a graduate school. The Umeå SIMSAM Lab is lead by scholars from the following departments and divisions of Umeå University: Epidemiology and Global Health, Geography and Economic History, Occupational and Environmental Medicine, Sociology and Statistics.
